The Solitary Tree on Amantani Island (Lake Titicaca)

I visited Amantaní Island in 2015, a quiet island on the Peruvian side of Lake Titicaca. Its terraced hillsides, carved and cultivated by hand for generations. The native trees, shaped by relentless winds and long seasons of drought, are living sculptures molded by the harsh weather.
The landscape took my breath away. One single tree, rooted deep in the rugged hillside, seemed to carry the island’s spirit. As the world rushes forward, the people of Amantaní preserve their way of life.
